Location: Rome, IT
Client: Gagosian Gallery
Project Status: Built

This gallery in Rome, Gagosian’s first in Europe outside London, was designed with Firouz Galdo, Officina des Disegno srl. The gallery is a former banking hall on Via Francesco Crispi, near the Spanish steps.

The main gallery is a single large oval interior, reached by steps up from the street entrance, presenting a dramatic length of curving wall to the arriving visitor. The steps and gallery floor are of grey stone. Tall windows on one side bring natural light into the space. The curved wall is sufficiently shallow in its radius to accommodate painting shows.
